This dragon proved to be quite a challenge to track as he scouted his territory along the river bank.
While taking his photo several large flies started to hassle me, making it very difficult to concentrate.
I spent several minutes trying to wave them off when suddenly this dragon flew over and chased the flies away.
It then hovered looking right at my face for a couple of seconds and then went back to scouting.
I was not bothered again by the flies and finally was able to get this photo.
Taken with the 400mm and extension tubes allowing a closer working distance and more magnification.
