The 400mm lens was not enough, so I added the 1.4x and 2x teleconverters resulting
in a focal length of 1,120mm (1,800 with digital crop factor) and an aperture of f/16.
This combination requires careful manual focusing and a lot of luck to get a decent shot.
The Bald Eagle was severely affected by the use of the pesticide DDT and by the mid 1960's
there were fewer than 500 nesting pairs left in the continental USA.
Their numbers are slowly but steadily climbing in the USA and Canada.
