Dragon On My Finger

Mason Neck State Park

After several minutes this dragonfly let me get quite close.
It alternated it's resting spots between a tree branch and walkway railing.
I preferred a tree branch photo, so while on the walkway railing I moved my hand close to make it fly away.
Instead of moving to the tree branch it stepped up on my finger, so I took the photo!

You are one lucky person. When I was watching some the other day, one landed on my head!! I know I like to get up close and personal with them but no way could I take a pic of that lol.

Hey Tom, this is actually a full-framed shot (no cropping). That's why the DOF seems shallow. :)

Amazing the detail that's there when cropped, and amazing how slight the dof is too. Guess it's curiosity was up, or that's one brave little guy. Sounds more like a jumping spider than a dragon, altho' I've heard you could put out a stick and they land on it often. Fantastic shot.
