My son MALCOLM Holloway was Born BMH .Renteln on the 1.6.78 I was serving with The Queens Royal Irish Hussars in paderborn Barker Barracks we lived in sennelarger took the wife to the nearest medical centre they rushed her to Renteln I was not allowed in the Ambulance because she was due any minute so I drove behind the ambulance down the auto balm all lights on my car went off I had nothing being 0230 hrs I was chasing the ambulance at 70mph no lights not funny especially when you hit the cobbles arrived had not very long but a experience .found out it was the old type fuse with the wire one blew and the wire went across the others and blew the lot

My husband was in the RAMC and served in BMH Rinteln 1969-73. Our youngest son was born in the hospital. We lived in Buckeburg then Schaumburg - we were the only Brits in Schaumburg until another couple from the hospital came to live in the flat below us. Our eldest son attended the Army School in Buckeburg. Loved Rinteln, fantastic place. We had several German friends there and still keep in touch with a couple we met who live in Cologne. Glad to see the place still looks the same!

My name is Andrew Lee Chambers, I was born in BMH Rinteln on 28th September 1986. I am looking for my father who served in the REME. His name was James Matthew Chambers born in Glasgow. He may also have been know is jim or jimmy. I know he re- married to a lady by the name of Alison. He would be about 52 now. The Rinteln address I have on my birth certificate is 71 Aircraft Workshop REME BFPO 41. He was known to have a love for German Shepherd dogs and he also exported cars. I am now 26 years old and have never met him. I would really like to know my dad before it is too late. I worked for SKC and lived in Berlin 1974 for a year and between 1976/82. I lived for a while in 6 Civ Mess in the Grunewald & Devon House Civ Mess on Heer Str. I was the Engineer i/c SKC TV Workshop and Rental/Sales outlet in Summit House. I have traveled widely through Europe to most major cities but nowhere can compere to pre-1989 Berlin. I loved, the 'buzz' of the city, the fact that you could do virtually anything (except parachuting!!) and the Berliner's seemed to live life for the day - who knew what would happen tomorrow? I've been back for a week in 2005 but the rule :- you should never go back applied. Still great but not outstanding......

Hello, great to see the pictures of BMH Rinteln, the hospital where we were born in 1955, my father was serving with The Green Howards (lived in Minden)at the time, Mum only just made it to the hospital, she had us twins very quickly! Nice to see the place 55 years on, hope to visit Rinteln, Minden and Iserlohn in the near future. Thanks Lorraine

I was a member of the Q.A.R.A.N.C and was stationed at BMH Rinteln 1957/58. This is where I met my husband Colin Brown who was doing national service with the R.A.M.C and was also stationed at Rinteln. We have a lot of happy memories of this time. We always intended to pay a return visit but never have done. We will be celebrating our golden wedding next year.If any one remembers us we would love to hear from them.

MY PROBLEM IS THAT IM NOT SURE IF I WAS REGISTERED AT BIRTH OR NOT, AS IM UNABLE TO FIND ANY RECORDS ABOUT ME. ITS LIKE I DONT EXSIST. Served in all 3 BMH's shown here. Elder son was born in BMH Berlin in 1978. Have been back to Germany a couple of times since retiring from HMF and due in Berlin again in 3 weeks to "do the Weissnacktachts Markts and re visit "scenes of crimes"

I was a ward stewardess at bmh Rinteln from feb80 -feb82 and have lots of memories ,Ican remember the corridors under the buiding they had pipes running along them and if you werent careful youd bang your head, I worked on most wards but was on maternity for the longest ,Can remember spending many a sunday afternoon walking up to the Klippe and having hot chocolate and torte we even slid down the hill once in the snow and of course who can forget Hubertos and his weiner snitzels and tha slivovitch great memories

I was born in Berlin BMH in 1984, my dad was in a army first battalion, the prince of wales own regiment of Yorkshire BFPO45. First time seen those photos, it were amazing but suddenly the hospital i was born in has knocked down. i would be nice to go back and have a look as i dont remember it, but i dont have chance. I was only 7 month old moving back to United Kingdom.

I was very pleased to look at the photos of BMH Rinteln. I was in the QA's between 65-67.I married and had my daughter at the hospital. We lived in one of the flats in Waldkatter Allee. I have lots of happy memories of Rinteln. My daughter went there last year and loved it.She stayed at the Waldkatter Hotel, on the edge of the forest, it has its own brewery and is an excellent place to stay. I noticed a photo of our old watering hole across the road from the hospital,it was called Hubertus gasthaus. I spent many a happy hour there with all my friends from long ago. Thanks for the memories!

Great photos, I went back in 2006 to see where we lived in Spandau. My husband was in the REME and one of his jobs first thing in the morning was to check the train. I ran the Brownie pack at Spandau and worked at the Kindergarden. My son was born in Hannover in 1968.

I served at BMH Berlin 1990 - 1993, played hockey for BMH Rinteln. How I remember that drive from Berlin to Rinteln most Fridays.

My daughter, Jane was born in BMH Rinteln in 1965. I also went there occassionally in the 50's, as a child, when my dad was serving in BAOR. I understand the buildings have now been demolished (Google Earth )

Looking at the beautiful photos of Berlin and thinking of the happy fourteen weeks I spent there between June and September 2006, really one of the best and happy times in my life, The true love of my life was a lovely girl from East Germany called Yvonne whom worked in Berlin, we became engaged to be married, but life can be cruel and she "moved on" but but I still love her as I love her City of Berlin, if anyone reading this knows any of us Yvonne the East German girl who worked in Berlin or myself Alan the Irish man who came to Berlin to visit her in Berlin in 2006 - Could you please tell her to get in touch with me again, Thank You - Alan Hetherington Derry City Ireland.

My name is Gavin Fraser and I worked (all be it as a pads brat)in Berlin Inf Bde. I played at Stadium Rugby Club and sadly left in 1989 to join the AAC. We lived there from 85-90 in Theodor-Heuss Platz opposite the Jerboa and summit house. I joined the Army and went to Rinteln as a patient and remember it all. Many thanks.

I served at BMH Rinteln 1993-5. Specs ward (yes alongside Bill Anderson, damned good chap!). Some marvellous people and times,and some not so good (Cathy Penney). I even met my husband on the ward, happily married for 11 yrs and 2 gorgeous children, despite ALL the c---p we went through! He was Cpl Walton (Ray), and I was Captain Cushen (Jeannie)ooooer! Still keep in touch with Joy Scammell, Sooooo Flower, and Lani Tom. Ey up.Little brother now OC @ Peterborough- that's the RAF for you!

I served in Rinteln 93-95. What a great unit it was.
I lived in the flats at Behringweg 'the white elephants' then moved out to Buckeburg 'little london' as the locals called it.

I was in Hohne 2004-06 and visited Rinteln and Buckeburg - Rinteln is now being used again which is nice to see - and most of the MQs in Buckeburg have been sold off except a little corner of Konigberger Str

I was posted to Rinteln 1976-77. I can remember going along the underground passageway to get to X-Ray but running like mad to get past the butchery department. There was a German civilian who worked there, preparing the meat and he always seemd to come out to see who was walking (running in my case)past with a bloody meat cleaver in his hand! I was terrified!

I was a member of the QARANC and was posted to BMH RINTELN after the closure of BMH ISERLOHN in 1994. My son was born at the hospital in 1996 and we lived in Buckeburg. I returned to England in 1997. In December 2006 we spent new year in Rinteln. My son is now 10 years of age and it was great for him and his younger sister to see where he was born. It is great to hear that others are still reminising about the past! Best Wishes.

I was in BMH Rinteln in February 1954 with a severe bout of 'flu caught after exercises in cold damp snow & ice conditions whilst doing NS with the RMP 1 Corps(HQ) Bielefeld!

Although I served at BMH Berlin I wasn't alas part of the QARANC but with the Army attached as a chef.The hospital was not only for the soldiers but also for the families as well. Underneath the hospital was a fully fitted underground hospital supposedly capable of surviving an attack. The kitchen at the rear of the hospital was used as a delivery area for corpses being taken to the morgue ( also in the hospital )I have more information if required but alas no photographs.
