Star of India was built in 1863 as Euterpe, a full-rigged iron windjammer ship in Ramsey, Isle of Man. After a full career sailing from
Great Britain to India then to New Zealand, she became a salmon hauler on the Alaska then to California route. She is now relegated to
entertaining landlubber tourists who pay a fee to come aboard. A few years back a number of tall ships came to town to help celebrate
the Star's birthday. Although smaller than most of them, the Star of India held her own among these grand ships as they sailed
into the bay. If you've never seen 10 or more tall ships together under sail, I have to tell you, it absolutely takes your breath away.
