Nikon D3: Happy :-)

I played around with the Nikon D3, and what can I say,
it's awesome!!

I got the impression that more than any other product,
the Nikon D3 was the star of the show at this year's
expo.

I tried the live-view feature on the model mannequins
Nikon had on display. There seemed to be a slight lag
when zooming on playback, but overall the camera
and its operations were very fast.

The viewfinder was heavenly. I didn't think the 3" LCD looked
"better than a computer screen" as I've read somewhere else on the net,
but it was really nice.

The body felt great, but if you've held a D2X/D2H or almost any
other pro Nikon body, then you know how it feels.

The rep was very confident that the D3's high iso performance
would be the clincher that will put a Nikon digital back in
my gear bag. I told him sure, but I'm not confident about
getting $5000 to buy the damned thing!

But hey, top marks to the Nikon D3, it's da bomb!

These monsters might become relics soon with the mirrorless jobs coming out.

Does it come with that string attached, Sam? I thought there would be no strings attached!

Excellent capture of the enthusiasm of the subject. Great angle and composition. Thanks for the mini report. v

Same sentiments as Mr Clarke however, since in my case, Mrs B ("the Minister of Finance") handles all the money, it's hopeless....bummer....V

I want one! It will make an excellent camera for concert work. I might just by one then tell the Minister of Finance later. LOL. "Forgiveness is easier to receive than permission". +V
