A blast from the past! The Nikon D1X is a digital slr from 2001.
This now classic DSLR was (and is) capable of great colors and that
elusive "film-like" look.
The 5.4mp files might be low by today's standards, but I'd put those
megapixels in that "classic" category, just like the Olympus E-1. In its time,
it was one of my favorite Nikons ever, digital or film.
Although I don't mind the low resolution, if I had to summarize the pros and cons
for the D1X it would be this:
Positives are a very strong, sturdy pro body, very fast and accurate AF, and
very cheap in today's market.
Negatives are low resolution (by today's standards), poor high iso performance,
and the worst part for me, poor battery life. If you can live within its realm, it's
an awesome camera even today!
Note: I never thought I'd join the Instagram crowd, but it seems I have found a bunch
of new "nuts" over there so I invite you to check out the cameras that I have used over
the years in my new and growing Instagram photo collection. It is the place where the
cameras are the legends :)
