Blooming Red

Rancho Bernardo, CA

The other night Herb, BJ and I discussed the difficulty of shooting red subjects, so I decided to give it a go. This flower required quite a bit of manipulation using “Color Balance” in Photoshop. Since I am red/green color blind, you’ll have to tell me how this came out.

for being color blind I'd say you got it spot on!
so is that what you learned in class . . balancing color without knowing where the balance is? I'd like to know that =)

Well, it would be hard to improve on this, Robin. The colors are perfect, the DOF is terrific, and the composition is quite pleasing.

I think you did a great job Robin.
I find reds often blow out and some purple floral hues are impossible to reproduce digitally. Such is the way - but this is quite beautiful.

Looks red and green in the right areas, Robin! Beautiful flower. Yeah, reds blow out easily. But, I think you did an excellent job on this one!
