At Dawn California Burns

Baltimore, MD view map

The sun rises over Baltimore Harbor while my neighbors back in Rancho Bernardo tell me that my neighborhood is being evacuated. I may be going home to a burned out home.
And that fact that the announcers on CNN sound so excited and almost happy about all this steams me. I wonder if my friends after Katrina felt the same.

My best to you and your neighbors
I hope the flames spare you all

I am not a very religious person, but lately I have been saying a lot of prayers. This is one of those times. I pray for your safety when you return home.

Let's hope not! :-(

Robin I am watching this nitemare unfold, I was just down the PCH last Sat.
I can't believe this. I pray that it is brought under control for you and
your neighbors.....

I'm still watching that dripping liberal station, CNN because they are carrying better coverage. Rancho Bernardo has good news in that the loss of homes is random. I am not that religious as you know...but when its really important, I'll pray. I'm praying for you now, Bro.

Robin, I surely pray that this fire does not get to your home. My prayers are with you all. Please keep me updated on the status. I also am praying that it is contained and put out quickly. You guys just went through this a few years ago. Just saddens me to see it again. And, I agree with you on the announcers...they are a bunch of creeps...wanting that exciting story.

Beautiful photo to offset the disaster going on at the home front. Good luck to you.

I do hope everything goes well for you, dear Robin.

It does my heart good to hear a staunch Democrat say such things about CNN, LoL. But more seriously I hope all is well SD. This is a spectacular shot from Baltimore. -BJ V

Robin I just saw the news. I thought you were on a business trip. Becky just hit me with an IM asking if you were ok. Our prayers are with you, my friend. I'm going to try and call you here shortly.

I was listening to the news and one of the reporters was airing from Rancho Bernardo and I immediately thought of you. I sure hope everything is OK for you and your neighbors,, Robin. Be safe.

Robin, even that close to the coast we are under voluntary evacuation notice. So our bags are packed and our fingers are crossed,
What little I saw and heard of your neighborhood does not look good.
All we can do, is hope for the best.
Karen Leaf22-Oct-2007 22:46
Thinking about you, too.

When I saw the news this morning it appeared the fires were in the Malibu area and I thought your area was safe. I am sorry to hear this news.

Beautiful image and a great way to start your day.

Robin - Sorry to hear that the fire is near your home. I hope they can get it under control soon. Your comment about the CNN reporters reminds me of a Don Henley song - "Dirty Laundry"... (lyrics) 'I make my living on the evening news, just give me something, something I can use. People love it when you lose - they love dirty laundry. Got my bubble-headed bleach blonde - comes on at 5:00. She can tell you about the plane crash with a gleam in her eye. It's interesting when people die, gives us dirty laundry. Kick-em when they're up, kick-em when they're down....'

Robin,
Kent & I were hearing about Malibu, then, suddenly, we heard Poway & Rancho Bernardo mentioned. You & your home base in our thoughts & prayers.
Brian McAllister22-Oct-2007 18:22
Laura and I are thinking of you and your neighbours. We truly hope everything will work out well Robin.
petesie22-Oct-2007 18:12
I had no idea it was near your home. My prayers are with you, too.

This is such beautiful, golden light--the light of October. Prayerfully, your house will be spared.
Gary Blanchette22-Oct-2007 15:17
My prayers are with you Robin. The fire here was heading our way and got as close as 2 mile away from us. We are currently under a blanket of smoke.
