Bill was a history teacher when I attended Colorado College back in the late 1950s. His talent and enthusiasm for the subject fanned the fire I had already developed in high school. I majored in history at CC and went on to earn a Master of Arts in the field at the University of Colorado.

Now, 51 years later, we had invited him to come to San Diego to speak to our CC Alumni group. It was a thrill to have him here. I again learned new things about our world listening to him. Thanks for being my intellectual mentor Bill.
