December 20: Ready to Ship

Rancho Bernardo, CA

A fellow Pbaser ***Bob Foisel***, who by the way has the wisdom to live in the Durango, CO area, bought my EFS 10-22 wide angle lens which I don’t need any longer. ***See this shot***

Here we have the young coed from UCLA bubble wrapping it for UPS ground shipment to arrive in time for Christmas.

Which image do you think is the better one in terms of content/comp? This one or the one below?

I guess it depends on whether you're a boob man or a...well, boob man! (What's gotten into me???)

Top one; the wrapping makes the photo (and UCLA ain't bad either).

I like the concentration on the girls face on the bottom shot. The motion blur on both is good, shows a sort of sense of urgency. The bottom one is my favorite. Cheers Dougie

Bottom one, definitely

I like the bottom shot. That doesn't sound right. I like the shot on the bottom.

My first alma mater. Like the hands.

P.S. - Too bad it wasn't a Michigan State sweatshirt.

The girl is attractive, she's intent on her task and there is more of a story in the bottom picture.

I definitely like the bottom one better, although, in a lot of cases there is something to be said for artsy and sexist. ;-)

I have to say that the one on the bottom is definitely preferrable, ESPECIALLY, after looking at the top photo and reading "A fellow PBaser, Bob Foisel." My first thought was that Bob must be preparing for a sex change.

However, whichever one you look at seems to scream UCLA. Being a California Golden Bear, I would have to say that both shots are extraordinarily ugly. The only way they could be more distasteful is if the girl was wearing a Stanford or USC sweatshirt.

The bottom one!
snootydog21-Dec-2005 03:24
The one on the top is artsy and sexist. the one on the bottom tells the story and is practical and far less sexist. I guess it all depends on whether you want arty and sexist or practical with more of a plot line.

Bottom's up!
Gayle P. Clement21-Dec-2005 02:25
I like them both but the bottom one tells a better story.

I like the intense concentration in the bottom one.

Bottom one

Bottom one - by far. Upper one does not include story, content or action.

The bottem one as well.

I agree with Mark VM.

Definitely the bottom one, Robin. Well done!

I prefer the bottom one! Very nice!

Perhaps the way to look at this is to imagine these two images being posted without any explanation as to what was happening in them. The top image shows a girl (for obvious reasons) doing something with some bubblewrap. The bottom image not only gives those hands an owner but, also show some sort of a business setting where the girl is obviously trying to wrap something. So, for me, the bottom image tells a much better story.

LOL Zak !! I prefer the bottom one

I like the first because the actual wrapping is going on.
