October 19: Prepare To Stop

Interstate 15

At 9:00 a.m. on my way South out of Escondido back to Rancho Bernardo this morning I ran into the typical morning commute. It took me 30 minutes to cover seven miles. I am glad that I don’t have to do this most days.

Man, look at that beautiful white line space...I'm glad I don't drive a car.

Nice shot.

Being from a small town, we don't run into jams quite like this unless there was an accident of some kind. I found out what traffic like this is like while in Va. Beach though, esp. them tunnels at rush hour, ugh.

great register...interesting perspective with the mirror!!!
regards.

That rear-view mirror image is a bit frightening. Why do people persist in tail-gating?
Karen Leaf20-Oct-2004 00:43
Cool shot with the mirror showing just how close the guy was in back of you!
I've come to appreciate my 5 minute, 1 stop light commute.
(go sox, in a wee little voice)

I know how you feel -- it took me an hour and a half to drive 11 miles to work today!

I didn't know Paul Walters had a Mercedez dealership :^)

That sign should read 'prepare to start' by the looks of that traffic

I see you made a nice capture of my trucking company to the left. ;)

My God, Robin, were you sitting in the back seat? Or have your arms grown? Hard to imagine taking this shot but it's neat to have the before and after view, so to speak...

What a pain in the butt, think about the poor sods that have to commute south every day

It's like Fort Myers during "season." No clouds, though.

I really like that you included the rear-view mirror in the shot. Very nice!

Still have those rain clouds. Looks like a "good" traffic jam.

We don't have such signs over here. Instead we have variable speed limits on some motorways that are tightened up to say 30 or 40 mph when the road gets so busy - the idea is to keep the traffic moving, albeit slowly, rather than stop, start all the time. Its fine in theory, but they don't seem to monitor the conditions enough and it becomes a bit of a mockery when the roads are totally clear...

I like the composition of this shot...front and rear view.

I bet the driver in front of you is glad too... youi're tailgating AND photographing all at the same time.
