This is a beautiful shot, Robin. I can imagine it as the cover of a magazine.

Nice leading lines with the framing of the tire tracks on the sand.

Great composition!!!! I lilke it so much!!!
Guest 30-Aug-2004 04:23
I like this one too! I like the tracks, makes you wonder where they go!
Karen Leaf30-Aug-2004 03:13
Yep, this one would be my choice, only because it holds my attention, and makes me want to know where the truck is that went thru here, and I really want the little girl to either jump over the track or walk thru it. Superb. One of your best.

They are both pretty special robin and each in a different way. Both of them have a lot of energy and yet both are quiet and comforting.

Everyone's said it already! I especially like the comments of Wm. Bates, and Lou. Can I second, er...third them? Great PaD day for you Robin!

Getting us to compare 2 very different subjets is somewhat unfair, Robin. Both are wondeful shots. For me as a father of a child, I see children pictures in a different way and the child's shot is just stunning.
To say now that I prefer it to this one would be as unfair. All depends on the moment, the mood and the place.
To resume, you just made a series of excellent shots. I like this tireprint shot as much as i like the other one, I just see both in a different way.
Sometimes I would like this to be a Gallery a Day site ....

This picture is really special.

Mr. Bates said everything I would have said, only better. Great lines, good eye, and hte figure is just a wee bit too close to the edge. But a good capture nonetheless!

Sorry Mary,.. I've reloaded new size.
Still doing my studies on visual communication.

This is my prefernce, Robin. I like the composition here ... the lines of the horizon, shore and tire tracks lead the viewer right to the figure of the child. Great eye!

I'll second Wm. Bates assessment, and add a request to resize your photos so that the longest side is no greater than 800 pixels. If you do that, then the photo won't look soft at the default size of "large." BTW, how's that lesson anthro of visual communication coming along :^P

Great shot Robin , i love the composition with the tracks leading you into the picture .
Wm. Bates29-Aug-2004 15:28
Robin, I think this is the best of the two photos. The child photo is sweet and well done, but it has been well done by so many. Now this photo shows a good eye for composition and someone that understands art comes from the everyday. So many people would have not taken this picture thinking those tire tracks ruined the natural scene. I think they make the picture. You saw something that most people wouldn't. Well done Robin.

Excellent leading lines with a stop. Good shot, Robin.
One very small suggestion, you might have trouble if you tried to frame this
because the child is so close to the edge, the matting will cut him/her off.
I've kicked myself for that a couple of times. :-)

Such a good shot, Robin. I love to see sand from different parts of the world. Ours is white and yours is sable. Rachel Carson writes about this at length in "The Edge of the Sea." Fascinating stuff!

Good Shot

I like how the tire tracks lead my eye back to the water and the off-center subject.
Lori Rolfe29-Aug-2004 14:37
love it....the tire tracks following perfectly along and so lose to the edge of the water make it so visually interesting.... I almost went to the beach at the end of the day yesterday...now I really wish I did.... great shot
