Gas Up!!

Rancho Bernardo, CA

Tonight, after spending the afternoon working on my taxes (and wondering how bad it is going to be) I felt a bit down, so I drove around Rancho Bernardo looking for a picture for today. Seeing that Gas Is Still Up caught my mood and my eye. Top prices are down about 10 to 15 cents here, but the costs are still egregious! Shucks, it only costs me $40.00 to fill my tank!

Petrol (gas) hasn't been that cheap in the UK since at least 15 years ago! I drive a Renault Clio (not sure if it's available in the States - but it's a typical European compact with an 1100cc engine), and it costs over £35 ($62) to fill the tank - and that's in Scotland, Western Europe's largest oil producing nation! Prices are set to rise even further, with Tony Blair stating that he will use the army to prevent any repeat of the September 2000 fuel protests!! Need to apply for my Green Card, I guess :-)

my mom drives a GMC surburban with a 50 gal tank! at least she doesn't have to fill up weekly! also the big disadvantage we have especially on the west coast is that our public transportation is terrible, if you don't have a car you don't get to too many places!

well, I'd guess then from Chris's point of view we have a way to go before we can REALLY complain . . but I think I'll get started now . .good practice for later

Isn't that terrible? It costs me a tad over $40 to fill my tank, and it only holds a bit over 18 gallons! Lucky I don't feed it premium! I posted a picture like this back on September 5th of last year when regular was 215 and premium 235. Chris Brooker responded with: "Hello Paul, You have had my head spinning. In the UK we pay around £0.78 per litre or £3.54 per UK Gallon. Exchange rate of £1 = $1.58. 1 US Gallon = 3.785 litres & 1 UK Gallon = 4.546 litres. I think that we pay $4.66 per US Gallon. Which for me is $74 for a tank full (60 litres). I'm sure someone will correct me if I am wrong. Please send us help in the form of a food parcel!!!" Price in September of Last Year

I drive an SUV and get less than 20 mpg. My wife drives a hybrid and gets close to 50 mpg. Either way it hurts.

Yes, a person could drop $80 to $100 very easily into some SUVs.

People with SUV's are probably hating life right now:)
