There was footage on French TV from a local man who has lost everything - it is impossible to imagine the horror. Our thoughts are with the victims of the bush-fires.

183 confirmed dead and more expected. The fires are still burning in the north east of the state, and the Bunyip fire is still causing concern.

I don't know what to say....... we have been moaning about a bit of snow and some flooding, I know that lives have been lost here but this scale of devastation is horrifying.

Those are some fabulous photos but awful story. Laine said they could feel the heat on Saturday. Her best friend escaped with only the clothes on her back 2 minutes before her house burned to the ground and only because a policeman made her run.
