Luminous, alive and effulgent, the copper's spotted wing a stained glass panel, and its perch on the aster's yellow mound a temporary stop before it flitters off again. Spotlights single out both asters, above and below as well as buds and a shiny black ant adding a jewel's glint to the lower foreground aster.

Ah, la farfalla...Bellissima.

This is illustrated social stratification: the gorgeous butterfly high on its pedestal gazing down at the lowly ant, that lacks social mobility. What would it take to make that climb? A boost from daisy bud? Prosthetic wings? Or just a determined crawl up the stem, feeling invincible.
