On a recent trip to Peru and Equador we kept seeing a small bird like a sparrow. Thanks to your photos I've identified it as a Rufous-Collared Sparrow. Great photos!

Excelent presentation. Excelent photos. Excelent work. The best scenery and one of the best places in Peru and in the world to watch beutifull birds. The best in the world for me are in Madre de Dios, in Peru.

Does anyone know of a bird found in Peru that builds a unique sphere shaped nest with two rooms, and when destroyed flies out, makes a cry and dies? I was told and shown a nest of this typle of bird when visiting Los Tumbes, but can't remember what the bird is called.

A group of 4 of us were in the Lima area, along the coast, into the Andes, and near the Amazon Basin (Villa Rica) in October and we are just now trying to identify all of the birds via various field guides and sites such as yours. We are still at a loss with many, but who knows, we may have discovered new species? Thanks for the great shots and your collection was helpful in helping me identify the West-Peruvian Dove.

Beautiful shots; I'm leaving for Peru on June 9th, Im taking a 1 D Mark ll, 300 F 2.8 ISL and a doubler. I'm concerned about geting through customs. Ive read (Moon Handbook) that they will ask for a bond of 25% of the value of my camera gear. What is you're experience with Peruvian Customs and Camera gear? Regards Bill Hopson

Hi Robert I have been checking out your gallery again and some of the comments made since the Iquitos trip we did together last year. I still remember how we basically had finished birding for the night - after a night walk in vain at Explorarma to try to find Nocturnal Currasow - and were drinking a few beers and were just to finish the birdlist to go to bed, when the canopy walkway caretaker/guard comes rushing in telling us that the Nocturnal Curassows were calling close to the trail - and sitting on an open perch. All of a sudden we could non be more awake and active. That shot may not be the sharpest . but it does have one of the best stories behind it. I am headed to Peru in two days and have perused your website hoping that I will see some of these birds and remember having seen them on your site so that I can return and find out what they are called. Unfortunate for an avid birder to be traveling to Peru without a field guide or much time to actually go birding, but it will be enjoyable nonetheless. Robert My son Benito(13), a birdwatcher and bird illustrator since he was 6, called my attention about this wonderful site with incredible bird photographs. We are chileans, and some of the resident birds from Perú, are also residents or visitors here in Chile.
