I love the contrasts in this: the texture of the line against the grain of the dock against the shimmering shine of the water, it's all very nice!

never thought about the kinky or dirty aspect of the coil before ( something strange about writing that . . . ) but I do see how that would be a problem

Nicely done. Concentric circles and lovely little sunbursts to set it all off. Learned something new about ropes too. Knots are better for real life but this is perfect for the challenge.
