Jill enjoyed her two-hour watch at the helm as we sailed across Card Sound and into Biscayne Bay. We were working our way through the Upper Florida Keys back to Miami.
We had 20 to 25 knots of wind on the beam. It was an exhilarating sail. The wind was so strong we had to put a reef in the sails, meaning we couldn't unfurl the sails to their full extent. Even with the sails reefed-down, Shibumi sliced through the water faster than I have ever seen her go before; except for the times we were getting a vigorous push from the fast moving waters of the Atlantic Gulfstream.
