Left Jonesboro, AR 6am 7/23 for Rattlesnake Springs, NM to look for the Piratic Flycathcer being seen there. Arrived at the springs 7am 7/24 I had 2 sightings of the bird both brief and at a distance. The first was at 7:50am and the 2nd at 9:30am. We stayed until 11am trying to get Linda a better look but had no luck. I did get a couple of distant documentary images of the bird. After leaving NM I decided to drive over to Sierra Vista, AZ to try to add Plain-capped Starthroat to my photo list and was successful.
Outstanding trip! I was in Amarillo TX while the Piratic was there, but didn't have enough time to string together a trip for it. Great shots, congrats on the Starthroat, that is the big hole in my hummer list now.
