Turkish Air Force

In the 1980's, the Turkish Air Force, or Türk Hava Kuvvetleri, transformed from an air force using only 2nd hand equipment to a more modern force. Still, hundreds of F-104 Starfighter that came available in Germany, Belgium and Holland went to Turkey to keep up numbers. F-4's, F-5's and the first F-16's also guarded the Turkish airspace.

fantastic collection, with many vintage aircraft, and some still flying (I think it is only in Turkey that the Phantom still flies)

That is what I call "gap filling". We missed those fantastic days of TuAF. Due to my age, I could only catch the last days of F-104s but could not photograph them as it was forbidden to Turkish citizens :)). Luckily you had them. When I start my F-104 starfighter in TuAF book, I will knock your door to get your permission to use some of your photos. Thanks a lot for sharing
