Latin Name: Lamprotornis iris (Oustalet, 1879).
This bird is bright iridescent emerald green with purple ear-coverts, neck patch, belly and dark eye. No blue tones to plumage.
Distribution is from west and south-east Guinea, Sierra Leone and west-central Côte d'Ivoire. It feeds on fruit, particularly Ficus and Harungana berries and seeds and,
less frequently, on insects, particularly ants, foraging on bare ground.
