Scientific name: Padda oryzivora (Linnaeus, 1758). Lit. "rice paddy eater".
The Java Sparrow originates from Southern Asia, where it can be found in Java, Bali, and Sumatra. There, they are regarded as a serious agricultural pest in rice fields.
