Scientific name: Leiothrix argentauris (Hodgson, 1838).
In the Genus Leiothrix there are only two species, the Silver-eared Mesia (L. argentauris) and the Pekin Robin (L. lutea).
Silver-eared Mesias are distributed from the Eastern Himalayas to Western China, ranging South, down through Indo-China to Malaysia and Sumatra. They are also found in North,
Northeast Indian subcontinent, Southwest China and Southeast Tibet. They live in bushes on the edge of broadleaved forest, secondary growth, jungle and scrub at elevations
of 500-2,000m.
For backyard feeders: try Birds-Out-Back.
Note: We have examined the high-resolution version of this photo. The bird's toe is bent back in what looks like an awkward position. However, it is definitely not inside the band.
