Phalaenopsis orchids, from the Greek words phalaina ("moth") and opsis ("appearance"), are one of the most easily recognized genera, with their flat, rounded petals and characteristic three-lobed lip at their blossoms' center. They are also one of the most popular orchids among novice orchidophiles, as they grow easily and rapidly and have long-lasting blossoms.
