This is a start image for some experiments I have in mind.
I know draping a black coat behind the flowers is sort of cheating, but it does help isolate the flowers from all the rubbish and distractions in the garden.

Actually the black background always nicely enhances pictures of flowers and you did very well preserving your tulips by disturbing background to reveal all their simple beauty at their best!

Black coat cheating - don't say that - it's part of constructing a good shot!
I brought some black material for this purpose and carry pegs in my bag.
I like the 3 flowers - I think using 3 of something should be a recognised extention to the rule of thirds!
