This Kathakali troupe in Kochi performed a nice story from the Mahabharata named 'Kiratham' or so I was told. It went along the lines of "Conceited prince Arjuna (?)is out hunting-Lord Shiva, disguised as the hunter Kiratha, decides to cleanse Arjuna of his pride-Arjuna resists, until he realizes he's really dealing with Lord Shiva-Arjuna repents and becomes good-The End". The photos unfortunately don't convey much of the story...
Congratulations for the photos. Many thanks from a "kathakali brandhan." You are doing a wonderful service to Kathakali. A small correction, as already pointed out by Mr.Rajasekharan Nair - the 'kari vesham' or 'kattalan' or hunter is Lord Shiva in disguise.
When you do similar photo sessions next (which I hope you will continue), please try to find out the story. Now a days synopsis are made available on such occasions.

Hi,
Nice Photos....Congrats..................
Some corrections to be made in the write up.
This is from the famous story KIRATHAM.
It is not Lord Krishna disguised as Kirtha(hunter) but Lord SIVA..
ARJUNA was doing penance to get boons from Lord Siva. As you mentioned Lord Siva appears before him as a hunter to test him & remove his pride. They had a fight ( Arjuna was not knowing that the hunter is Lord Siva) At the end, Lord gives him a special weapon called "Pasupatastra"

Lord Shiva is disguised as Vettakkaran (Hunter). It is a story about Shiva, Parvathi and Arjuna. In the end Arjuna gets Pashupathasthram
