Most of us have seen the rustic, old windmills sitting out in the middle of vast farmland, adjacent to a highway or on a distant hilltop. Probably not many of us know that many of these were built by the Aermotor Manufacturing Co. Because of the extreme conditions and locations these windmills are placed, the Aermotor name is usually worn off with time. The Aermotor Manufacturing Co. originated in 1883 in Chicago, IL, owned by Lavern Noyes. Over the years, the company has been sold many times and it's plants crisscrossed mid-America, even moving it's manufacturing to Argentina at one time. The company now resides in San Angelo, Texas, which seems a more appropriate place for such an historical piece of American history.
