Messier 82 is a starburst galaxy approximately 12 million light-years away in the constellation Ursa Major. A member of the M81 Group,
it has a center one hundred times more luminous than our galaxy's center. Red filaments can be seen flowing from the center of the galaxy,
perpendicular to the galaxies disk, at speeds of up to 1000km/s. Originally thought to be due to a massive explosion from within the galaxy,
but now thought to be due to rapid star formation.
