I was stumped by this bird because I have been unaware that the first winter Magnolias do not have stripes as the adult plumages do. I thought it was a Parula Warbler that somehow had acquired a yellow rump and yellow feathering going well below the chest and into the belly. I asked Jeremiah Trimble if this might be some sort of Parula hybrid, and he identified the bird for what it was!
