Welcome to our Bonaire Gallery. We've been to Bonaire 3 times - 2002, 2003, 2004. Most of the pictures you see here are from our most recent trip, however a few images from previous visits are sprinkled throughout. Bonaire is an awesome place - laid back, unspoiled and fantastic diving. The reef lies very close to shore making Bonaire "The Shore Diving Capitol of the World." Rick -- your gallery is beautiful. Most people focus solely on Bonaire's undersea life, and it is refreshing to see a good capture of the land-life. Your undersea shots are brilliant. We just came back from our honeymoon in Bonaire and I brought my camera gear as well (Canon 10d). I wish we had more time in the National Park. Have a look at my collection to see some other iguanas & lizards from Bonaire. http://www.pbase.com/chojan/bonaire I love your banana shots with the whiptail :) Thanks for sharing, Cal.

Rick & Susie, WOW! I was overwhelmed by the beauty of your photographs. It was as I was transported to another world (I am not a diver, have only done snorkeling in Hawaii). No wonder Susie was so excited about her summer trip and you have gone for a number of years in a row. It is Sunday and I am in awe of God's creation and the minute detail and beauty of each creature. I can't believe that anyone could buy the big bang theory creating this intricate and balanced underworld, it could only be accomplished by the divine, infinite mind of God. I especially loved the photos of Salt Pier and the tube sponges but it would be difficult to pick out any one photograph or subject--Susie looked great, too! The only experience I could compare this to would be the slides I saw from an Antarctica dive, taken by a female scientist that spoke at the SAC Women in Engineering, Science and Mathematics Panel some years ago. As I recall, she said that on a good day, visibility in California for divers would be 50 feet and visibility at Antarctica was 1,000 feet. The ice had to be excavated 18-25 feet to reach the water and the diving hole had a wood structure (like the fishing houses in Wisconsin and very cold areas) surrounding it. The dive equipment she had to wear was very heavy and bulky. She said that the most difficult part of the dive was hoisting yourself up the ice hole to return to the staging area. Surprisingly for such an astere and hostile environment, the fish were beautifully colored but her slides were no match for Rick's photographs. Thank you so much for sharing your wonderfully crafted and exquisite photographs. My youngest son is in Japan for 2 years and quite an adventuresome young man. He sky dived in Switzerland, kayak raced against Team Italy, ran with the bulls in Pamploma, dived off cliffs of over 60 feet in Costa Rica and used ropes to careen down huge canyons in Switerland and Costa Rica. I am sure that when he goes to your website, he will be planning at trip to scub dive.

Thanks for the message. The above water pictures were taken with a Canon EOS 35MM. The U/W shots were taken with Sea & Sea Motormarine IIex. On most U/W shots dual strobes were also used. Let me know if you have any additional questions. Thanks! Rick
