A flight into the Okavanga delta, possibly one of the most beautiful water worlds in the world is a must on any traveler’s list. We poled our way through the maze of channels to an island deep inside the delta to set up camp. Whilst elephants and hippos munched their way through the reeds just a few hundred feet up stream, I found it difficult to stay focused on the landscape in front of me. My attention was caught by the way our poler had just thrown down his pole and trapped a few reeds. The shadows and fluffy clouds complement the scene, and made this view more important than the elephants! Standing on boggy land, this was no location for a tripod. Taken handheld at f16 meant IS0400 and a shutter speed of only 1/40s. Image Stabilisation and a low-noise sensor isn't just a luxury in these conditions...
