Union Pacific Extra 6908 West at Dale Junction, Wyoming. Power consist was DDA40X #6908 and SD40-2 #3301.

After a time in storage, DDA40X #6908 was returned to service during a power shortage in 1984. It was retired on 29 May 1985. The locomotive was traded back to General Motors' Electro-Motive Division in August, 1986, and eventually scrapped.

At the beginning of 2007, SD40-2 #3301 remained on the Union Pacific locomotive roster.
