Vermilion Flycatcher (Immature Male)
(Pyrocephalus rubinus)

Cypress Lawn Cemetery, Colma, Ca

AB2A3558-1_fW.jpg

The bird just caught and ate a crane fly which it caught flying just above the lawn.

Note: Vermilion Flycatchers normally only reach the United States in the extreme Southwest.
This bird was found by a local birder, Peter Metropulos, and is only the second on
record for San Mateo County, the first for the San Francisco Peninsula.
