Great Blue Heron, right after apparently swallowing a California Vole

San Antonio Open Space, Los Altos, Ca

The heron had difficulty swallowing the vole. After remaining in this position for 30 seconds or so, it tried to cough it up for a few seconds before finally being successful in swallowing it completely.
