As do many birders and bird photographers, I have a keen interest in bird behavior, wanting not just to identify the bird but also observe and photograph it while it’s in daily survival mode. Courting and mating season brings additional interesting and photo-worthy opportunities. However, while photographing bird behavior is my primary interest, I never pass up a “bird on a stick” shot.
More than 95% of these photos are from within a 30-mile radius of the Lucy Evans Baylands Interpretive Center in Palo Alto; from cormorants catching fish on Shoreline Lake in Mountain View to Great Blue Herons stalking gophers and voles in the open fields of Rancho San Antonio in Los Altos.
