This is a nice combination of abstract and straight nature - the ant being the latter and the colour washes of the Strelitzia being the former.
I wonder if it would be even more effective if the right hand side was cropped up to where the blue section begins.
This removes some lighter areas that tend to pull my eye away from the main area of interest.
