Oceanographic research vessel used as accommodation for foreign shipyard workers at Skála Skipasmiđja.
The vessel was to be scrapped at Fornaes Shipbreaking in Grenaa, Denmark.
Since the vessel is no longer sea worthy, it had to be towed to the Faroes.
In December 2008 Explorer returned to Fornaes Shipbreaking in Grenaa for demolition.
