Het Mattenkot

Vilvoorde

This building, which is soon to be restored, is a part of a former dominican convent.
At the end of the 19th century, after the french revolution, it became the location of an important carpet factory.
People called it “het mattenkot” - “the mat shed”
and it is still known as that today.

A fine shot of this ancient building. Regi.
It's certainly had an interesting history!

Ancient building has rather unusual proportions and layout of windows. Although significant historically, a fact that you have helpfully pointed out in your commentary, it is the compositional technique which emphasizes the two disparate, vertically aligned windows that makes the image significant. v

Beautiful! The deep blue sky really makes this old structure "pop"!

Beautiful color and light, Regi. Saturated and appealing like crazy.
