I took this as a record shot of a rare visitor at my feeders. A couple of Red Crossbills spent the day Saturday at my feeders, a first for my yard and also the first time I had ever seen a Red Crossbill up close and not in flight. It has otherwise been the standard fare of chickadees, woodpeckers, nuthatches, goldfinches, doves (lots), juncos, etc at my feeders this fall with the odd brief visit by Pine Grosbeaks. The Pine Grosbeaks don't every stay around or eat anything. They just land, look around and take off, perhaps to find berries instead of seeds. I haven't had any Pine Siskins (that I saw) or Common Redpolls yet.
