This past weekend was excellent for observing tracks in the woods. Recent mild weather had turned the snow cover into a smooth, rock-hard base upon which a light dusting of snow fell. This light dusting of snow preserved good detail in the tracks left by animals passing over it. I found two tracks on the weekend that I had not previously photographed or even encountered before, skunk (below) and fisher (above, paralleling deer tracks).
