This afternoon I visited two different areas of Stony Swamp looking for fungi. Both are older growth areas that were spared the axe back when this area was first settled. Not so coincidentally, both areas are more biologically diverse than the surrounding plantation areas, and when heading out I sometimes target these older growth areas specifically for that reason. One area is largely deciduous and the other area is a cedar swamp. This fungi species was found in the cedar swamp area and was common there but nowhere else.
