I wasn’t too keen on going out on the ice again after hearing it cracking around me, which again a normal thing for ice to do as it expands and contracts from natural forces. I didn’t want to go back out onto the ice at all, but I also didn’t want to spend the extra time walking the trail back to the road (it was already noon and I was hungry) so when the trail took a hard left to head towards the boardwalk I took a right and came out on the shore directly across from the observation platform in the pine woods. I then walked the much shorter distance straight across the ice towards the observation platform, stopping along the way to take this photo. The footprints in the photo are not mine. Many other people have walked across the ice. My walking out on the lake this morning was prompted in part by seeing footprints all across the ice and by seeing others out there skiing, skating, and walking dogs.
