Today it was back to the area where I found the coyote prints at the end of last month. This time I had to go far off the trail because there were domestic dog prints paralleling the trail, something that I technically shouldn’t be seeing at all since dogs are not permitted here in the winter. I ultimately ended up walking out to the agricultural fields and walking along the access road that the farmers use to get their machinery to the fields. The serious skiers also use this access road for skiing since their official trails are often ruined by discourteous walkers.
It was there in and around the access road, at the boundary between the open scrub and agricultural fields, where I found a great variety of prints. This large set was the first I investigated because from a distance it looked like it might be coyote, but a closer look turned what I thought could be coyote into deer.
