The first "showing", following restoration, was at the 2002 International Studebaker Meet at South Bend, IN, in June. At the end of the week long meet, this car, along with about 170 other Studebakers, followed a police escort for about 17 miles to the former Studebaker Proving Grounds Test Track.
Once at the track all drivers had the exhilarating experience of "testing" their cars on the 2 1/2 banked oval track. Once around the track, our '37 Dictator then headed for home (Platteville, WI) in the continuing 95 degree heat of the day. While driving flawlessly through the hot and congested Chicago traffic, the odometer turned over to 17,000 original miles.
