Chuckwagon Race

Williams Lake, British Columbia

The Chuckwagons used for racing must be traditional round-up wagons with wooden boxes and square
corners. A chuckwagon must weigh a minimum of 1,325 pounds with its driver and wagon equipment (stove
rack, wagon tarp, etc.).

The breed of horses used in chuckwagon racing are Thoroughbreds, ranging in age from three years old,
and in many cases, to over twenty years old, the majority of which have experience on the racetrack.
Some horses have been known to run on a chuckwagon in excess of fifteen years before retiring to the
pastures of home.
