In February of 2005, as many as 40 Short Eared Owls were counted on the Arentz farm in South Western Adams County. The rich farmland, part of the Adams County IBA, provides an abundance of prey for the congregation of owls. This area also supports good numbers of Red Tailed Hawks, (including an Albino), Northern Harriers and Rough Legged Hawks. These owls were featured in an article in the Dec/Jan 2005 issue of National Wildlife Magazine.
