Hi Bob,
I am a fan of your photos.
In a topic at dpreview i saw that you have and use both 200mm f2 VR and zeiss apo sonnar 135mm.I also have zeiss apo sonnar and find it very hard to focus especially wide open on portrait work. But when i use it on tripod for landscape work it is my best lens of 33 lenses :)
The thing i want to know is could you please compare 200mm f2 with it about sharpness contrast bokeh and rendering?I know they are different focals but as a pixel peeper i need to know their differences.

By the way please answer through my mail adress
Thanks

Hi Bob: Thanks for the post on the Nikon Lense! My name "Powderchaser" holds true as I average 700 inches of fresh per year and operate a weather snow site called www.powderchasers.com You can sign up for the alert and know where the snow is going to fall up to 10 days before the storm. Great photos on your gallery.

Hi Bob,

Thanks for visiting my black light gallery and taking the time to comment! After seeing your galleries, I think I could convince my wife to move to Fresno. So many great images and great places to shoot nearby; and the air is so much better than smoggy LA. I'll return often to see what you've been shooting.

Dear Bob: This is Oscar Rico, hopping you remembers me from the meeting over Mike Wong studio. I am sending this note asking if you can please give me a call to discuss details regarding the D3. My home phone number is 408-779-5859, or if you must prefer that me to call you, please send me you phone number and I will call you back. Basically I need to make a decision of keeping the D3 or selling it to get the D300. In order to make my move I need to talk to you because you were exposed to the D3 and also appreciate your understanding about photography. Sorry for this way of getting in contact with you, but it is the only way for me. If this request impose to you by any means disregard it, and I will understand without any problems on my part. Warm Regards: Oscar Rico

I enjoyed looking at your galleries. Nice work. I used to visit Fresno several times a year to visit my parents. They have since moved to So. Cal. Nice city, but a little too hot in the summer and a little too cold in the winter. But you are close to Yosemtie.

Robert-

I am a D2x shooter and am considering the the D3. I am a people shooter Portraits and Events) Much of what I do is outdoors and I need the LOWER ISO. It appears the lowest ISO in native ISO is 200 which seems like a step backwards. The D2x is 100 and the Canons (Mark II DS0 is ISO 50.

Have you had any experiance at the lower ISO with the D3?
Guest 09-Dec-2007 08:51
Hi Robert ... you've got such nice gear there :o) nice to see a Nikon Friend at work, especially when you're trying to catch some nice Lighthouse expression during a fogy evening :D Great work man and I guess ... that now it become a time for your studio workshop, isn't what you dream about? I've seen your 1st attempts and I though it might be nice to see some effects of your "composition talent" from that. Hope to watch that soon :o)

Cheers,. Jerry

Hi RB,

Just purchased the 200-400 and was wondering if there is a protective lens cap supplied with it. Could find one apart from a slip-on 'soft' pouch..

thanks and regards,

Hi RB,

Do you think D2x's lens mount can handle the weight of 200-400? i currently carry the 200-400 using the strap comes with the lens and mounted on the lens but its not really convineint so I'm thinking using the camera's strap on camera only. Will the weight tear the lens mount apart?? thanks! please reply to my email: jack310@ms23.hinet.net

RB: You have some lovely galleries here, especially your dragonfly gallery. I want to thank you so much for the wonderful comments you left me on my Macro gallery. I am on vacation and this was the first chance I had to see the comments you left me. I have been very pleased with the 70-200VR and 500D combination, but it is heavy. I bought the 500D to use while hiking, so I have the benefit of a macro lens without having to carry the extra lens.

Hi RB,

Thanks for the kind comment. I love both the 200-400 and the 600. Probably use the 200-400 more due to ease of carry in the mountains where I shoot. I have seen a number of your shots on dpreview. The herons are wonderful, especially the one doing rodenticide. Keep the good work coming.

Good Morning:

Many thanks for your long email, much appreciated. I feel that we are probably in the same class of 2005. I am also a amateur, and yes $8,000.00 Canadian including taxes for the 200-400Vr was and is a lot of money, but boy what a lens.

Go to the opening page at www.pbase.com/byjohn I just placed my image on top as you did sitting and resting in the snow.

Cheers

Enjoy your lens, we are very very fortunate to be able to own this lens.

Wishing you a Happy July 04 Weekend
