Four large settling ponds comprise the Kotu sewage works. Two of the ponds have areas of open water, one is totally smothered with lilies & water hyacinths whilst the remaining pond is smothered in something brown & smelly!! Despite the unpleasant aroma in the air, the range of birds here is amazing!
A lorry bringing a "fresh" delivery of the brown stuff can be seen in the distance. Needless to say my wife was far from impressed at this birding venue!!!
