Wildlife seen Feb 19-24,2006 at Sabal Palm, Santa Ana, Laguna Atascosa, and the Vieh's Bed and Breakfast, in and around Harlingen, TX. Also photos from tours at Fennessey Ranch (Bayside), King Ranch (Kingsville) and on the Skimmer (Rockport-Fulton)

Ther are tons of egrets (I believe) that are nesting in the trees on may land. They are starting to come around yearly now. Could I have a nesting sancuary like Rockport has for their skimmers !!!

I was in Lytle, TX near San Antonio. I live near Austin & had not seen this kind of bird. The bird is black with red on top of the wing. Thanks, ori

Here near New Braunfels Tx I am ( right now) looking at a bird that is the most beautiful bird I have seen in the wild. At first I thought it was an escaped pet from a bird cage.
This bird is about the size of a sparrow. It has a dark blue head, a red breast, Green wings and a yellow patch on its back. A very striking bird. Do you have any idea what this bird is? It nests here and I have not found any info about this little bird.

Thank you for your photos. I have seen the roseate spoonbill since the first time I came down here house hunting a year ago and have been wondering what kind of bird it was. I took a picture of it myself because I was so facinated. Thanks again, Brenda
